My Kitchen Forest.

I don't have a garden, but I do have a kitchen forest. I wanted to capture my favourite window in our home. This sunny window sill has made the mundane task of washing up seem much less of a chore (we don't have a dishwasher).
This is a miniature artwork in my art diary, with lots of tiny details. I used acrylic paint, gesso, metallic pen which gave the bird cage a natural rusty look (I wasn't sure how I was going to achieve that) and Posca, on kraft board.
Being so small it made sense to do the finer detail in pen. I started with the window and glass, net step was the pots / hanging pots, then came the plants, and finished off with highlights, shadows and then the finer detail in pen on top.
Since signing up for art class i've learnt that I need to slow down and have more patience. Once I begin a painting I like to get it finished and move on to the next idea.
I love miniature artworks!
